If you own or operate a public water system and measured
turbidity in the distribution line exceeds 5.0 NTU (nephelometric
turbidity units), follow these steps immediately:
- Contact us for help? Violation Report Form?
- Even if you cannot reach us, use the PDF file below to prepare the mandatory language for a
public notice to your customers. If necessary, prepare a notice in Spanish, too.
- Print the completed notice.
- Issue the notice in as many of these ways as needed to
reach all of your customers:
- Broadcast the notice by radio, TV, or other appropriate
media.
- Post the notice in conspicuous locations throughout the area
served.
- Hand-deliver the notice to persons served by your PWS.
- If you have obtained our written permission to use another
method, use that method.
- After notifying your customers, complete
form TCEQ-20208, “Certificate of Delivery of Public
Notice to Customers,” and submit the certificate and a copy
of your notices to us by fax to 512/239-6050 or by

- Before rescinding this BWN, you must:
- If the condition persists for 45 days or longer, issue
follow-up notices in the same way you issued the original
notice.
- Obtain our authorization to rescind the boil water notice
[how?]. After obtaining our authorization, you may rescind the
notice in the same way you issued the original notice.
