Industrial Sectors Under the Storm Water Multi-Sector General Permit

Storm water discharge associated with industrial activity is defined as storm water runoff that exits any system that is used for collecting and conveying storm water that originates from manufacturing, processing, material storage, and waste material disposal areas (and similar areas where storm water can contact industrial pollutants related to the industrial activity) at an industrial facility that falls under one or more of the following sectors of industry:

  1. Timber Products
  2. Paper and Allied Products
  3. Chemical and Allied Products
  4. Asphalt Paving and Roofing Materials and Lubricants
  5. Glass, Clay, Cement, Concrete, and Gypsum Products
  6. Primary Metals
  7. Metal mining (Ore Mining and Dressing)
  8. Coal Mines and Coal Mining Related Facilities
  9. Oil and Gas Extraction
  10. Mineral Mining and Dressing
  11. Hazardous Waste Storage Facilities
  12. Landfills and Land Application Sites
  13. Automobile Salvage Yards
  14. Scrap Recycling Facilities
  15. Steam Electric Generating Facilities
  16. Land Transportation and Warehousing
  17. Water Transportation
  18. Ship and Boat Building or Repairing Yards
  19. Air Transportation
  20. Treatment Works
  21. Food and Kindred Products
  22. Textile Mills, Apparel, and Other Fabric Product Manufacturing, Leather and Leather Products
  23. Furniture and Fixtures
  24. Printing and Publishing
  25. Rubber, Miscellaneous Plastic Products, and Miscellaneous Manufacturing Industries
  26. Leather Tanning and Finishing
  27. Fabricated Metal Products
  28. Transportation Equipment, Industrial or Commercial Machinery
  29. Electronic, Electrical, Photographic, and Optical Goods
  30. Miscellaneous Industrial Activities
