Rules for Groundwater Protection Recommendation Letters

Following are theTexas Railroad Commission  rules to which the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) adheres when issuing letters for the protection of usable-quality groundwater for the oil and gas industry:

• Disposal wells—Title 16 Texas Administrative Code (16 TAC) 3.9(8)
• Exploration and production wells— 16 TAC 3.13(a)(1) and (b)(2)
• Injection wells— 16 TAC 3.46(f)
• Cathodic protection wells— 16 TAC 3.99(c)
• Seismic shot holes and core holes— 16 TAC 3.100(c)
