The TMDL Program works to restore Texas water bodies that have limited quality in relation to one or more of their assigned uses, such as recreation, fishing, or healthy aquatic environment. Some of the TMDL Program's projects develop total maximum daily loads; however, the TMDL Program also manages some projects that determine whether a TMDL is required, such as analyzing the attainability of an assigned use, or assessing the extent, severity, and sources of pollution in water bodies.
