Facts for Salvage/Dismantlers

Drive a Clean Machine Vouchers and the Federal CARS Program

The TCEQ has determined that federal and state statutes and rules do not restrict a purchaser from using both the federal Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS) credit and the Drive a Clean Machine (DACM) voucher in purchasing a replacement vehicle. In all instances where the DACM voucher is part of the sale transaction, all DACM requirements must be met.

If you pick up a vehicle that has been retired through both the CARS and DACM programs, all dismantling and recycling requirements of the DACM program must be followed.

As a participating AirCheckTexas dismantler you will receive vehicles from the dealer at no charge, however you must also provide the scrapped vehicle to the steel recycling facility for free. The advantage is that you may sell any salvageable parts other than the engine and emission equipment.
