Municipal Solid Waste Management and Resource Recovery Advisory Council Applications now being accepted

July 2017 – The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is now accepting applications for new and vacant positions for the Municipal Solid Waste Management and Resource Recovery Advisory Council. The deadline to apply is July 31, 2017.

The Municipal Solid Waste Management and Resource Recovery Advisory Council was created by the 68th Legislature in 1983 and is comprised of 18 members who serve staggered six-year terms. The composition of the council is prescribed in Section 363.041 of the Texas Health and Safety Code.

The council performs several duties including:

  • reviewing the effect of state policies and programs on MSW management;
  • making recommendations to the TCEQ on matters relating to MSW management;
  • recommending legislation to encourage the efficient management of MSW;
  • recommending policies for the use or distribution of funds for the Regional Solid Waste Grants Program;
  • recommending special studies and projects related to MSW management.
