Fuel Additives

Information on the regulation of fuel additives in Texas.

Fuels and fuel additives are regulated solely by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through its registration and evaluation processes. All fuel additives must be evaluated and approved for vehicular use. The EPA is the only authority charged by congressional mandate to evaluate fuel economy devices, emission control devices, and fuel additives.
