All candidates applying for a summer position must be enrolled or planning to enroll full time in the following Fall semester. Students are expected to work between 20 and 25 hours per week during Fall & Spring semesters and potentially up to 40 hours per week during the summer (May - August), subject to Texas State University-San Marcos Student Employee Policies and Procedures and budgeted hours for projects.

All internships are located at either the TCEQ Headquarters in Austin, Texas or on the campus of Texas State University-San Marcos. The TCEQ hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

The internships are generally administered from semester-to-semester and may run longer. There is no specific deadline for submitting application materials as we continuously collect résumés throughout the year. Interviews are conducted by Texas State University staff in San Marcos, TX, and selections will be based on an applicant’s academic major, environmental-related interest, life/work experiences, and available time.

All program applicants are required to submit:

  • Current Résumé
  • Cover Letter of Intent/Interest
  • Unofficial Copy of Transcript

All submitted documents must be in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF format. Transcripts may be unofficial, i.e. copied from an online student access database. Letters of interest/intent must include time availability and expected graduation date.

Students interested in participating should submit their résumé and supporting documents by email.

Current interns are not limited to working for one semester and may continue working for multiple semesters, if funding is available and mentor evaluations are positive.
